In recent years, Isfahan's urban spaces have been faced with a large number of decorative murals that have been designed and implemented with the aim of softening and beautifying the urban landscape by order of the Municipality Beautification Organization using decorative patterns. The necessity of paying attention to this issue in this research lies in the importance of the physical dimensions of the place and urban space, which must have a consistent aspect in each of its constituent elements. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to analyze the factors affecting the performance of contemporary decorative murals in beautifying the urban space and landscape of Isfahan based on the concept of decoration in Islamic-iranian art, and in order to answer the question of what are the factors affecting the performance of contemporary decorative murals in Isfahan's urban spaces? Accordingly, by benefiting from the opinions of traditionalists whom often did research on the subject of Islamic art decoration in the form of a theoretical framework and with a descriptive-analytical method and selecting purposeful examples, the current situation has been analyzed. The results of the research indicate that inside cities with historical texture like Isfahan, the proportionality between the decorative patterns in decorative murals and the physical dimensions of the place and urban space in the current period does not have the necessary coherence. The Islamic art could elevate the decorative patterns from being merely decorative to having a visual meaning. Also, the necessary alignment between the decorative murals used with the visual elements and qualities, materials and materials, and stylistic and technical capabilities with the location and use of the place and urban space is less, and characteristics such as visual effects in the formal and content characteristics of decorative murals, along with a more principled use of stylistic and technical capacities such as attention to the quality, gender, type, quantity, durability and sustainability of materials and materials, should be given more attention in the design and implementation stages.
