In recent years, artificial intelligence, with its widespread entry into the field of contemporary art, has confronted the traditional boundaries between human creativity and machine production with profound theoretical and ethical challenges. With an interdisciplinary and critical approach, this article first explains fundamental concepts such as originality of the work, authorial intent, algorithmic transparency, and ethical responsibility in the field of digital art, and then analyzes the three roles of artificial intelligence in artistic production, including “production tool,” “creative collaborator,” and “independent creator,” by examining prominent case studies (NTOO, Beatles: Now and Then, Next Rembrandt, and Lil Miquela).
The main innovation of the study is the presentation of a seven-step ethical model called the AI ​​Art Ethics Pathway, which is designed as an operational framework for evaluating and guiding artistic productions based on artificial intelligence. By combining theoretical analysis, case study, and conceptual inference, this model covers the ethical dimensions of digital creation from the stage of determining artistic intent to the ultimate responsibility of the user.
The research findings show that the application of AI in art is not a purely technical issue, but rather an issue with legal, social, cultural, and identity implications that requires responsible policymaking and the promotion of data literacy among artists and cultural institutions. Finally, directions for developing the proposed model in the context of other media and suggestions for future research are presented.
