What is not expressed is often as important as what is expressed. Human being is a collection of physical, emotional and psychological features and all of these characteristics are displayed via the body. The body forms different shapes to express a wide array of emotions and feelings, as such Kings pay special attention to their portraits and assume that their pictures must be a symbol of their power. Therefore, they have always tried to portray an ideal image of themselves in photos. Kings became interested in these new contraption especially Iranian kings, so they prepared photos of themselves.
In this article, the concepts and patterns of body language in the photos of Qajar kings have been studied and this period has been reviewed to arrive at a new concept. The selected methods for this research is descriptive analytical which is performed by a historical approach and further analysis is done by content analysis with an emphasis on semiotics has been described and interpreted. The result of this research analysis shows that the Qajar kings have chosen photography as a display of immortality and glory of their reign. But, the study of these photos and their reality have resulted in the new concept of self-actualization through pictures and how an individual’s inner picture of himself affects the way he poses for a photo. To note and distinguish between gesture and personality is to emphasize the importance of body language as the behavior of body and the important role it plays to transfer emptions, beliefs, and mental states. All these emphasize further on the important role of body language in behavior transfer.
